Fake Painting Photographs by Alexa Meade

What you are about to see, are not paintings on canvas! Alexa Meade paints with acrylics directly on human flesh creating the illusion of painterly portraits.
“Alexa Meade is an installation artist based in the Washington, DC area. Her background in the world of political communications has fueled her intellectual interest in the tensions between perception and reality.
Alexa Meade’s innovative use of paint on the three dimensional surfaces of found objects, live models, and architectural spaces has been incorporated into a series of installations that create a perceptual shift in how we experience and interpret spatial relationships.” (from her BIO)

These Painting are just amazing, I have never seen art like this. I wonder what they will think of next.

Ryerson Awarded Three Year Accrediation for Master of Architecture Program

Address to DAS Students/Community from Department Chair Kendra Schank Smith

I am pleased to announce that the professional architecture program was formally granted accreditation by the Canadian Architectural Certification Board. This accreditation is effective January 1, 2010 for the maximum term allowed for initial accreditation.

The department is extremely proud that we have met all requirements for full accreditation by the CACB because this achievement recognizes that our program meets the rigorous criteria for education in the discipline of architecture. Accreditation of our program speaks to the quality of the facilities, resources, faculty, staff and students in the department - and the tremendous support we have in the architectural community.

I would like to sincerely thank you for your continued support of what we are doing here in the department. All of you lent us projects to be displayed, met with the visiting team, assisted with extra-curricular activities, and were tremendously patience throughout the entire process.

This is certainly a time to be proud of your education and the Department of Architectural Science at Ryerson!!

Best regards,

Kendra
